Geoff and Bridgette thought it was a great idea.
However, at the moment, Courtney could not be any more bored. She couldn’t remember exactly how Bridgette had goaded her into coming in the first place, but she definitely regretted it. Maybe it had something to do with guilt. Or more so, the slight admiration that she had towards the young couple for their desire to keep everyone together.
Nevertheless, she had no clue what she was doing sitting on their couch with fifteen of the other old contestants, watching the latest installment of hell.

Dinner goes off without a hitch. The men love her cooking and as they smoke cigars out on the porch afterwards, the boss's wife offers to help her do dishes. Courtney insists she has it under control but the woman picks up a rag anyway.
"Your husband is so brave," Beth says. She's a short, plain looking country girl and looks at Courtney in awe, diving right into gossip. "I can't believe he still lets you work at the place where you were assaulted! Brady would never let me leave the house!"
Courtney scrubs hard at a grease stain. "I wasn't assaulted. And I wasn't in serious danger."

In the aftermath, the newspapers interview Courtney about her experience. At least half of the questions ask her if she still feels safe at the bank or would she rather return to being a housewife. She answers the questions semi-politely and the bank manager promises to tighten security but doesn't really do much other than hire a police officer to watch the front door.
Justin is furious.
"You spoke to him? Why? Why would you do such a stupid thing?"
"I don't know," she mumbles. "I was scared."
"Really? That's your excuse for why you helped him?"
"I didn't help him with anything, Justin," she says from the kitchen as she makes dinner. "I

Duncan nods to his partner and she rounds up the tellers into a corner. Courtney watches the display, all too aware of the gun pressing into her back.
"What do you want?" she asks.
"I told ya, I'm making a withdrawal," Duncan retorts, prodding her with the gun. "Now, nice and slow, take me to where you keep the dough, and maybe I'll think twice about killing you."
Courtney does as she's told, walking with shaky steps to the safe at the back of the bank. This is what she gets for wanting something out of the ordinary.

Courtney Jones wakes up to the sun in her eyes. It's the same way she wakes up every morning, with the damn sun in her damn eyes.
She sits up. The bed is empty. She tosses off the covers, gets in her slippers, and shuffles to the kitchen where she can already hear Justin making himself coffee.
If the definition of a 'bad day' was an 'absolutely normal' one, then Courtney was absolutely already having one of those.
"Morning," Justin greets methodically, reading the paper like he always does when he wakes up. "Did you sleep well?"
"Fine," Courtney responds, going to make her same old breakfast: an english muffin with butter

Decent waffles predicted a good day, or so he had conditioned himself to believe. The last time the waffles were decent, he’d found his favorite flavor at chips available at commissary, and the time before that, a corrections officer snuck him a cigarette. In prison, Duncan had learned to savor the simple pleasures, and crunchy waffles meant that another was about to come.

The mass of bodies outside the institution is so massive, she needs the muscle from the
hospital to make her way to the door. The reporters clamor around her car, the walkway to the
entrance. They all want a statement, they all want to know who she is and what she’s doing. She

the front desk.
They shut the front door on a reporter’s outstretched pencil and notepad.
She spears the center of the training dummy with the accuracy of a four year old. Huffing, Lian straightens up and tightens the gloves around her hands, which are starting to get sore. Why couldn’t she get this? Gritting her teeth, she sends another kunai whizzing towards the training dummy, but instead of hitting it’s heart, it hits his crotch. She snarls, wishing that it was Amistad’s crotch instead of a synthetic training dummy’s.
Lian drops her weapons and nears closer to the dummy, standing with her arms raised, ready to fight. If there was one thing that her mother taught her, it was to never solely rely on her

The man didn’t respond immediately. Instead he moved his blue eyes downwards, trailing over my body as they had at the train station. This time, I was prepared. I crossed my legs and sat up straight, shooting him a glare. “It’s rude to stare,” I snapped. “Gentlemen aren’t supposed to stare at ladies like that.”
“I wouldn’t necessarily call you a lady. Ladies don’t rip up newspapers for no reason.” My mouth curled into a sneer. The gall of this man.

Hey y'all.
I'm still alive (miraculously ;) ). It's been a busy time in my life, what with finishing college and working. If you know me at all, you'll probably know that I haven't written in years. I lost something along the way and I couldn't go back to it for a long time. If it wasn't for the kind persistence of my co-author for Machine Gun Blues, I probably wouldn't have written again. But lately, something in me clicked and I decided to go back to it.
This past month, I won NaNoWriMo with the first 50k of my new novel: Prinzessin. Sound familiar? It's just that, familiar. I was inspired by the fanfiction to create a similar but way dif
